Organization

Three platforms, one shared agenda

The Center operates on a model of academic leadership, collaborative governance and open partnership. Three platforms are established under the overall coordination of the Center Director, Professor Hao Jianping, drawing on expertise and partnership networks nationally and internationally to advance research, platform development and global collaboration.

THE THREE PLATFORMS

The platforms and their work

From scientific discovery, to clinical and community services, to standards and global dissemination

1. Research & Innovation Platform

科研创新平台

Establish a nationally recognised interdisciplinary research and innovation platform focusing on core scientific questions — neural mechanisms, AI digital phenotyping, precision rehabilitation interventions and implementation science.

Lead: Zhang Xianda   Expert members: Liu Honghai, Nie Yinglei, Zhang Yan, Zhou Yu, Zhou Weiwei, Tao Mingda, Huang Yi

Action plan · Years 1–3

  • Multidisciplinary network — integrate the University's five colleges into an interdisciplinary autism research consortium, with 12 multidisciplinary research seminars over three years
  • Infrastructure and pilot research — AI-ready multimodal datasets (behavioural, fMRI/EEG/fNIRS, eye-tracking, voice) and shared clinical databases, alongside core pilot projects: a national survey of the lived experience of autistic people and families; brain–computer interface applications for autism rehabilitation; multimodal brain-imaging biomarkers for early diagnosis; and intelligent rehabilitation assistive devices

2. Clinical Translation, Family & Community Innovation Platform

临床转化、家庭与社区创新平台

Translate scientific discoveries into sustainable clinical, family and community practice, building a closed-loop system of clinical service — data collection — scientific innovation — evidence-based practice across the lifespan.

Lead: Hao Jianping   Expert members: Dong Yuanjun, Zou Xiaobing, Wu Lijie, Luo Jiayue, Liu Xueman, Qingdao Disabled Persons' Federation, Xingkong Zhicheng

Action plan · Years 1–3

  • Clinical translation network — four affiliated hospitals and 17 off-campus practice teaching bases; multidisciplinary clinical teams; standardised clinical pathways and evidence-based practice guidelines
  • Family and community support — community support models with training for local personnel, reducing reliance on scarce specialist resources; lifelong support programmes running from early intervention through to vocational preparation
  • Digital health — telehealth platforms and pilot remote screening, extending access to underserved and rural communities

3. Standards, Education & International Collaboration Center

标准、教育与国际合作中心

Serve as a vital hub connecting scientific innovation with international impact through standard setting, professional education and global collaboration.

Lead: Jiang Hong   Team members: Hao Jianping, Rehabilitation International team, China Disabled Persons' Federation, China Rehabilitation Research Center team

Action plan · Years 1–3

  • Standards — develop and disseminate evidence-based clinical, educational and rehabilitation guidelines; implement quality indicators and benchmarking systems
  • Education — culturally adaptive training programmes and continuing education for professionals, educators and families
  • International collaboration — expand global networks through Rehabilitation International; promote inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming and participatory research frameworks
SUPPORTING MEASURES

Supporting measures

Three guarantees that make the plan deliverable

🏛️

Organizational

The Center's development is embedded in the University's strategic planning (15th Five-Year Plan), so that resources are coordinated at university level.

👥

Talent

High-level talent introduction policies support global recruitment, and joint doctoral training mechanisms with Peking University and Shandong University cultivate top innovators.

🌐

Platforms and international collaboration

Full use of the 11 provincial and ministerial laboratories, and expansion of the global network through the University's partnership with Rehabilitation International.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES
